Episode 10: Setting your Business Legal Foundation with Liku Amadi
About
Liku Amadi is a business attorney based in the Bay area of California who helps coaches and consultants establish a solid legal foundation for their online businesses with custom contracts, trademarks, and entity formations. She is also a mother, a wife, and a champion for Black women.
When Liku and I connected a few months ago in a business mentorship group we’re both part of, I was really struck by how she just got it. She doesn’t have an extreme approach to setting up systems, processes, and protections for your business. Instead, she chooses to focus on education and empowerment through her services, and that resonates deeply with me because you know that’s what I’m about.
In this episode, Liku and I chat about a common thing business owners overlook when it comes to their legal foundation, the importance of getting guided help in the beginning and not trying to do all the legal things at once, the difference between copyrights, trademarks, and patents, when you should look into getting trademark or copyright protections for your business, what can be done if someone else is using your brand assets or content, the one protection you should get for your business even if you do nothing else to protect it legally, her personal entrepreneurial journey, the similarities between parenthood and entrepreneurship, and more.
